Professor Souleymane Diallo, Pharm D, MSc, Director of the Centre d’Infectiologie Charles Mérieux of Bamako is a medical biologist trained at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of the Health department of the Army, the Pharo and the University of Aix-Marseille II. He has been pathologist at the CHU Gabriel Touré and at the Research Laboratory of the Centre for Vaccine Development (CVD) unit in Bamako in collaboration with the Centre for Vaccine Development, Baltimore, USA. The Centre he leads contributes to biological diagnostic, training and research. Thus he participates in the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory activities. He is Professor of Bacteriology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bamako and teacher for the Bachelor of Applied Medical Biology (BAMS). He is investigator in various research activities on invasive bacterial diseases, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis.

Dr. Yalcouye is a pharmacist-biologist and Director of the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory at the Charles Mérieux Center of Infectiology in Bamako. He is a graduate of the National Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacology, and Odontostomatology of Mali. Following several years of research conducted at the Malaria Research and Training Center, he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). At the Rodolphe Mérieux Laboratory, he is in charge of coordinating the biological analysis activities that cover the various disciplines of clinical biology: biochemistry, hematology, hormonology, immunology, and microbiology. Dr. Yalcouye is a member of the team involved in developing various research protocols in partnership with other research centers in Mali. His main research focus is child pneumonia, sickle-cell disease, tuberculosis, and the various forms of hepatitis and viral hemorrhagic fever.

Dr. Alpha Haidara received his PharmD degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Odontostomatology (FMPOS) in Bamako, Mali, in 2003. During his studies, he conducted investigations on the quality of the antibiotics prescribed by medical staff.
Between 2003 and 2005, he then worked as an assistant at the CELLAL biomedical laboratory, and as laboratory manager at the Avicenne Clinic in Bamako. After this experience, he wished to specialize in biomedical science, and he did so between 2005 and 2007 at the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) in Brussels, Belgium. His work was centered on the pharmacology of Prodrugs, and more specifically in the intracellular dosage of the active forms of AZT/3TC/ ABC in T lymphocytes.
Between 2007 and 2012, he prepared his PhD in virology and immunology on the subject of the resistance of non-B subtypes of HIV to antiretroviral drugs. Currently, he is biologist and researcher at the CICM.

Dr Bréhima Traoré, Associate Biologist, earned his Medical Doctor Degree at the University of Bamako, Mali in general medicine in 2005. He worked as associate scientist at the joint Mali-USA/NIAID HIV and tuberculosis research program at the University of Bamako. For five years he worked on Mycobacterium tuberculosis host-pathogen interactions and the co infection with HIV. In 2011, Dr Traore received his Master degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, USA in biology, concentration clinical microbiology. He joined the Charles Mérieux Center of Bamako, Mali in October 2012 as associate Biologist in charge of the research. He is interested in the molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis and the characterization of circulating Mycobacterium tuberculosis multidrug resistant strains.
